We, Lisa and Dan Beach, got married in 1992. We didn't have the best experience with our photographer. We both loved photography as a hobby, and kept saying things like, if I was a professional wedding photographer I wouldn't treat my clients like that, I wouldn't rush them, I wouldn't overcharge them, etc...
Fast forward a few months later and we are in a large camera store in Indiana. We purchase a light kit, because we have always wanted one, and both had a passion for photography. Then we get to thinking, we spent $1000 on that, we really need to try and make some money with it. A guy my husband worked with was getting married and didn't have a photographer, so we volunteered to photograph the wedding. It turned out pretty good for our first wedding ever. We actually ended up booking about 5 weddings by word, just from that wedding. The next year we did even more, and each year thereafter continued to grow. In 2007 as a company, we did 250 weddings. We were lucky, we had a great team of photographers, and never had any issues. We have since downsized our staff and only do weddings that we can personally be on. Getting calls from other photography companies wanting to know if we could help them out, because someone they had slotted to do a wedding up and quit, or didn't show up on the last wedding, got us to thinking. We had been lucky for years, but why continue to take risks. We know we will be there, we know we will show up, and we know we will do an amazing job. We also have two amazing assistants that have been with us for years, that we totally trust to be there by our side whenever needed.
